http://hca-renton.org was de-activated after Mayor Koelker forced Inez Somerville Petersen to resign as Secretary of the HCA. Mayor Koelker would not allow the HCA to participate in the Neighborhood Grant Program as long as Inez was secretary, so rather than hurt the people she was trying to help, Inez had no choice but to resign.
Inez and her brothers were born in the Highlands, she attended both Highlands and Hill Crest Elementary Schools, as well as Renton Junion and Senior High. She has many friends in the Highlands some of whom go back over 40 years, and many also attend the same church, she shops at the Highlands, and she lives next door to the Highlands.
Inez enjoyed her position as Secretary of the HCA and worked very hard to save the duplexes from Mayor Koelker's planned Declaration of Blight with its power to use eminent domain to forcibly take people's homes to give to the City's development partner.
